José Henrique Padovani (São Paulo, 1981) concluded his Master of Music
(Creative Processes) at the Institute of Arts of the State
University of Campinas (Campinas, Brazil) in 2009. He received a
Bachelor of Music (Composition) from the Federal University of
Minas Gerais (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) where he studied with Sérgio
Freire, Oiliam Lanna, Rogério Vasconcelos and Gilberto
Carvalho. He is a Doctor of Music (Creative Processes)
candidate at the Institute of Arts of the State University of
Campinas since 2009, where he studies with Silvio Ferraz (Thesis advisor), José
Augusto Mannis and Jônatas Manzolli.
Padovani writes acoustic and
electro-acoustic pieces and is particularly interested in composing
music that combines real-time electronics with acoustical
instruments and voice. In his pieces there is a frequent usage of
extended instrumental and vocal techniques/sonorities and a
constant attention regarding gesture and sound shaping, as
compositional questions.
His researchs are concerned with
the technical and esthetical impact of the inclusion of new media
and technical resources (interactive music systems, computer
assisted composition, video-music, new digital instruments and
controllers, etc.) in the contemporary music. Therefore, Padovani
has a good proficiency in applications and programming environments
dedicated to creative music composition (Max/MSP, Pure Data,
SuperCollider, Csound, OpenMusic, PWGL, Common Music, Common Lisp) and also with
tools and languages with broader applications in the fields of
interactive arts (Processing, Arduino, openFrameworks).
